"Tyrolean Mountain Experience"
Igls, a Tyrolean village with character, is situated on a plateau at 2,700 feet over looking Innsbruck. Igls is only 3 1/2 miles away from Innsbruck, the cosmopolitan capital of the Tyrol province. Century old farm buildings blend with hotels and guest houses to create a homogeneous, hospitable community. Igls is located at the foot of the Patscherkofel Mountain. Sports and outdoor living is stressed in the Igls-Innsbruck area with miles of marked hiking and biking trails. Swimming, fishing, tennis and paragliding are some additional activities available. As a cultural center, many folkloric and cultural events take place in Igls and Innsbruck during the summer season.

FREE - Mountain Walking Program
Hiking for young and old! From an easy going, meandering hike all the way to demanding, secured climbing routes. This program offers daily hikes from the beginning of June until the end of September to more than 40 different hiking routes around Innsbruck and its nearby resort regions. Everything included: an experienced mountain guide, mountain hiker's bus, tour booklet, hiking shoes and day pack. Monday through Friday - all free of charge!
Romantic Lantern Hike
From the beginning of June until mid-September, every Tuesday evening, you'll enjoy a romantic hike with lanterns to the Gasthof Heiligwasser (country inn) above Igls, with a rustic evening complete with music, dancing and typical Austrian "Gemutlichkeit".
Family Walks
Parents with children are warmly invited to join in the family walks around Patsch-Ellbogen. Accompanied by an English speaking walking guide who is also a trained teacher, the group will find plenty to interest them on their walk. Both young and old will enjoy fun and games, a picnic and a campfire.
Innsbruck Secured Climbing Path
This 3000m long, secured panorama-climbing path from Hafelekar goes over 7 summits to the Frau-Hitt-Sattel at 2350m, offering superb alpine panoramas. The climbing path can be successfully undertaken by anyone with a bit of experience, sure footedness and lack of vertigo. Appropriate climbing equipment is essential.
HIKING - A hiking bus with guides leaves Monday - Friday at 9:00 p.m. from the Igls Tourist Office across the street from the Sporthotel Igls to different interesting hiking areas. Guests should be able to walk for 3-4 hours and conquer small inclines. |

BIKING TOURS - An extensive cycling route system, farm and country roads connecting different neighboring villages is established. For mountain bikers marked trails on the Igls house mountain Patscherkofel offers a challenge of various degrees.
EQUESTRIAN - Igls has its very own equestrian center. With 40 horses the center will offer lessons for every skill level and experienced riders can enjoy the Tyrolean countryside on horseback on well marked trails.
TENNIS - The Sporthotel Igls has a special arrangement with the Igls Tennis Club and will book court time or lessons according to the clients needs.
GOLF - For golfers vacationing at the Sporthotel, tee times can be arranged at the Igls Golf Club (9 hole) or Rinn Country Club (18 hole - hilly). Equipment available for rent - riding carts available only for physically challenged golfers. |
