Dear cycling enthusiasts:
Adventures on Skis/ Sportours is pleased to announce our alliance with EuroVelo of Switzerland, a multi destination cycling tour company who shares our business philosophy of offering top quality programs for reasonable prices. They specialize in small groups of 8-16 participants.
Our cycle tours are not a race; they proceed at a leisurely place allowing time to absorb the local culture, enjoy the pleasures of regional cuisine and have a comfortable place to spend the night. Each tour is different, with some designed for wine tasting in the Bordeaux and Burgundy regions of France as well as Italy's Piedmont and Tuscany. An escort bus travels with the group, transporting your luggage or weary cyclists who may have run out of energy.
Adventures on Skis/ Sportours will arrange your flights, transfers between the airports and your tour's start and finish, and help you with any pre or post tour extensions. EuroVelo takes care of everything during your cycling tour, so you're in good hands from beginning to end.

Dear friends,
A new cycling season lies ahead. I am pleased to present our new program for 2005.

What does Eurovelo stand for?

Cycling at leisure, you experience areas of particular cultural interest and beauty. Routes are specially chosen. You ride in small groups off the main road.
Our four-star hotels have been selected for their comfort and first-class service.
Fine food is one of our priorities. Local dishes are served whenever possible.
Culture and cycling go hand-in-hand; wine-tasting tours introduce you to the wine of the individual region.
Hilly stages may be surmounted aboard the tour bus , which transports both our luggage and bicycles.
You are accompanied by an experienced tour guide who is familiar with the region and the route.

We attach great importance to the satisfaction of your personal needs and would like to turn your holiday into an event. It is our aim to:
1. Introduce you to the most scenic regions in Europe at competitive prices.
2. Match all your expectations and set standards that are unrivaled.
3. Ensure that each tour is different. Routes and schedules are individual.
4. Avoid aggressive marketing and let the tours sell themselves on their own merit.

Take my word for it.

Yours, Dr. Franz Hofmann, Managing Director

Wine Tasting Tours

Do you love wine as much as your bicycle? You would like to know about the conditions needed to grow wine, how it is produced and by whom? To suit your taste, Eurovelo have designed tours combining wine-tasting and culture. Learn about the environment, the landscapes and the culture in which some of the best-known and some lesser known wines are grown.
Apart from exploring lovely landscapes, Eurovelo’s wine-tasting & cultural tours are about excellent wine and the philosophy behind them. You go on a journey appealing to your senses aimed at a better understanding of the appeal of wine. We visit vineyards, talk to the vintners, who share their secrets with us, and taste their produce.
Wine-tasting & cultural tours are organized in the following regions:
Tuscany, Piedmont, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Burgenland
In many lovely landscapes wine has been grown for centuries. The ways of cultivating and pressing grapes are just as varied as our tastes. On our wine-tasting tour we familiarize you with the art of producing wine. Whether you are a connoisseur or a novice, this is a unique chance for you to learn more about your preferred drink.
Do cycling and wine-tasting go in tandem? Visits to wine-cellars, winebars or wine producers are not necessarily about drinking wine. Take in the atmosphere, the explanations, the scent, and passion of the wine-growers. However, you are likely to be tempted to try their produce. You are at liberty to do so since you have always got the option to catch a lift home in the van courtesy of Eurovelo.

Cultural Tours
The landscapes we introduce you to do not only appeal to your senses, but are also rich in history. You will be tempted by an abundance of cultural treasures including visits to medieval cities, churches, castles or monasteries, all of which form an integral part of your tour.
Entrance fees, guided tours and transportation are included in the tour price as specified. The cultural heritage of the individual regions is diverse and our tours are designed to give you an insight into their history.

Routing
Experience the most beautiful regions of Europe steering a course away from the traffic thronged highways on to the less frequented lanes and byways. Relax and just enjoy the world around you. Escape from the hectic pace of modern day life, slow down and take in some of the Continent's outstanding landscapes. Cycle whilst focussing on the magnificence of your surroundings. Our tours are not about speed and competition, but simply about nature and culture. We travel between 20 and 75 km a day. The distance traveled depends on the terrain. Shorter initial legs are followed by longer ones. On some tours we offer a day of leisure to allow you to make the most of your stay at a particularly attractive hotel.
Spend 7 care free days in the company of 15 to 20 like-minded individuals, accompanied by experienced tour guides, combining exercise, culture, nature and haute cuisine.
Hotel Selections
Our hotels have been carefully chosen and are of superior quality, combining excellent service, food and infrastructure. Accommodation is authentic and mostly family run. In many hotels you can relax in an indoor or outdoor swimming-pool, the sauna or wellness area, especially in Austria, Germany,
Switzerland and South Tyrol. Hotels in France and Italy are typically situated in romantic places or are found in prime locations. Our four-star hotels (in special cases three-star hotels have been selected because of their particular charm) offer an extensive Buffet breakfast and four-course dinners. All rooms are en-suite (bath and/or shower), and include telephone and mini-bar.
Eurovelo-Bicycles
For our tours we use bicycles of good quality made by the Swiss manufacturer Tour de Suisse, chosen to provide you with as comfortable a ride as possible. All bicycles are equipped with 14-gear switches, Rohloff with two brakes. Double luggage pockets hold your personal belongings, while 28-inch tires and a comfortable saddle grant ease of movement.
Tour-Guide
Two experienced tour guides are by your side. The tour manager explores the area with you, passing on his knowledge of the region, showing you the sights around you and repairing your bicycle (Eurovelo bicycles only, if you take your own, you need to bring spare parts and tools) should the need arise. The driver looks after your luggage, supplies drinks and might well surprise you with a delicious picnic at an idyllic spot at lunchtime.
Luggage Service
To ensure a carefree ride, Eurovelo takes care of your luggage using a van to transport it. You are also >ree to take a ride should you not feel like cycling on any particular stage.
Transport Aid
The Eurovelo transportation aid is greatly appreciated. Our transport van helps you surmount gradients of any kind. You can either walk while we look after your bicycle, which goes on a special trailer, or travel in the van. Thus equipped, Eurovelo has been able to include hilly regions in their program. Passes become accessible and areas of less interest to cyclists may be passed by train, bus or on foot. Once you have made it to the top, your bicycle will be waiting for you, ready for a breathtaking descent.
Catering & Picnics
Every time we meet up with the Eurovelo van, food and drinks are supplied. Lunch is held at restaurants which are typical of their region. Weather permitting, your tour guides may opt for an outdoor picnic instead, offering you regional specialties. The above-mentioned catering services are not included in the tour price. Costs are split between the participants in the course of the week. However, all our tours are half-board, comprising dinners with several courses and a breakfast Buffet.
Lunchtime and evening drinks as well as extras at the hotel are debited to the individual participants directly. It is also at the participants discretion to reward good service.
Who can join us?
Are you interested in active holidays combined with some sightseeing? Is cycling one of your pastimes and are you a confident rider? If so, Eurovelo will live up to your expectations. Our tours are suitable for all age groups between 10 and 75, since the only requirement to participate is enthusiasm. However, we expect you to be in good health, in a normal physical state and to provide a little stamina. A bumpy ride over uneven ground should not make you feel uncomfortable, but you do not need to be a professional. Since good weather is beyond our sphere of influence, you should protect yourself against rain. In case of heavy rain, alternatives and the use of other means of transportation will be considered.
Eurovelo stands for unforgettable holidays.
Count on us for active recreation in pleasant surroundings among like-minded individuals.
